June 23-25, 2008 |
South Dakota State University | OPTIONAL - Summer camp for all varsity football players grades 11-12 who want
to attend. Cost: $160 Details: Please contact South Dakota State or the Litchfield High School Athletic Office for sign-up information. We will leave at 6:00am on June 23rd and return the evening of June 25th. Here is the 2008 sign-up sheet...2008 SDSU FB Team Camp.pdf Here is the health form that all players must have signed if you are attending this camp Results: The Dragons took 22 players to camp in 2008. The weather was very good for football with some overcast skies and cloudy days. Litchfield competed against many Minnesota powers including New Prague, Rochester Lourdes, Park and Fairmont. The Dragons battled in the Jackrabbit competition on Wednesday to end the camp against Fairmont and Rochester Lourdes. Rochester's option attack and Fairmont's eye back ISO attack were a great challenge to the Dragon defense. The Dragon offense worked against both defenses and had some good success to end the camp. |
| June 18-19, 19-20 or 21-22, 2008 | Jeff Trickey Quarterback Camps | Location: Minnetonka Here is a link to the web site. All sign-up information is located there. Here is some more information about the camp from a Trickey camp director... The "Trickey" QB camp comes highly recommended and is well known throughout the country. Jeff Trickey is one of the best QB coaches in the country. The camp focuses on the techniques and skills of the quarterback position with emphasis on the passing game, and mechanics of passing the ball and reading coverages. In my opinion the most important focus of the camp is the leadership skills. Each camper will be instructed about the leadership skills needed to play the position, many if not all which are transferable to ones life. Each session included four, two hour practice sessions. Nearest location for the camp is Minnetonka High School, Minnetonka Minnesota. The web sight above will get you all the information you need about the camp including on line registration. There are camps planned for all QB's interested grades 4th - 12th grade. Cost for youth camp (grades 4th - 8th) is $125.00. Cost for high school age QB's is $140.00. Remember to register early! For further information, call your on-site director or Jeff Trickey (262) 695-3099. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. |

'Air Dutchmen' - Melrose 7 on 7 tournament | Place: Melrose, We will be taking two teams so everyone should
get lots of playing time! Cost: None Details: All players excepts offensive linemen and defensive lineman can attend. Depart at ?am. No pads, just bring your cleats. Other teams that have attended in the past: Detroit Lakes, Annandale, Willmar, Sauk Centre, Holdingford, Spring Lake Park, Maple Lake, Rocori, Brainerd, Benson and Wadena-Deer Creek. 2008 Results: The Dragons brought two teams to the tournament, which was a great experience. Both teams had four scrimmages in a row so the players were plenty tired after playing in the hot sun. But it was good! The varsity team had scrimmages against Willmar, Annandale, Rocori and Melrose. The JV competed against Paynesville, Holdingford, Maple Lake and Benson. Both teams had success both defensively and offensively and competed at a high level. After the games the players enjoyed a Dairy Queen stop on the way home. |
| July 11 2008 | Detroit Lakes 7 on 7 'Bombs on the Beach' tournament | Place: Detroit Lakes Cost: None Details: All players excepts offensive linemen and defensive lineman can attend. Depart at 5:30am. We will return between 7 and 8pm. No pads, just bring your cleats. Bring some $ for eating out after the contest. Each player must fill out this waiver form: 2008 Detroit Lakes.pdf . 2008- Results: The Dragons brought one team to the tournament, which was held on a very hot and muggy day. The Dragons actually barely had left town when a tornado was spotted near Detroit Lakes. At the tournament the Dragons lost the first game to Detroit Lakes Red, but then came back to get 2nd in their pool by defeating Frazee and Barnesville. The Offense continued to fine tune itself by working on fundamental plays and trying players in different positions. The Defense came up with multiple interceptions while it focused on its pass defense. The 2nd place in the pool play earned the team a place in the eight team tournament, but the Dragons were defeated in the first round by Stephen-Argyle. Afterwards the Dragons had a team lunch and jumped in the lake to cool off before the bus outraced the storms to Litchfield. |
| July 27 2008 | St. John's University 7 on 7 tournament | Place: St. John's University Cost: None Details: Sunday. All players except offensive linemen and defensive lineman can attend. In this event you get to play on St. Johns' turf field. Departed at 12pm and played at 1:30, 2:30 and 4:45pm. No pads, just bring your cleats. 2008 Results: The Dragons played some large schools this year at St. Johns, which made for some great competition. The Dragons started out again powerhouse Becker. The Bulldogs had great speed, which took the Dragons a little bit to get used to. Once everyone was warmed up the offense and the defense started to make some plays. The Dragons took on Cambridge and Anoka-White in the other two games. The Dragons made steady progress on both sides of the ball during the day during those scrimmages. The day ended on a very fun note as Adam Anderson caught a fade pass in the corner of the end zone for an extra-point. It was a great throw and catch. |
